Michel Duflo

Michel Duflo ( born 1943 ) is a French mathematician who deals with representation theory of Lie groups.

Duflo studied from 1962 to the Ecole Normale Superieure and earned his doctorate under Jacques Dixmier. He is a professor at the University of Paris VII ( Denis Diderot ) Mathématiques de Jussieu at the Institut de and at the École normale supérieure.

Duflo et al worked on the orbit method of Kirillov Alexander. From Kirillov comes even a guess about an isomorphism between the invariant subalgebra of the symmetric algebra of a Lie algebra and the center of the universal Einhüllungsalgebra the Lie algebra, which was proved by Duflo ( Duflo isomorphism ) ..

Since 1986 he is a corresponding member of the French Academy of Sciences. In 1974 he was invited speaker at the ICM in Vancouver ( inversion formula and invariant differential operators on solvable Lie groups).

Duflo was awarded the Prix Le Conte of the Academie des Sciences. In 1986 he became a corresponding member of the French Academy of Sciences. His doctoral counts Laurent Clozel.
