Michel Laurent

Michel Laurent ( born August 10, 1953 in Bourbon -Lancy ) is a former French cyclist and current sports director.

Michel Laurent was a professional from 1975 to 1984 and was able to record numerous victories, especially in one-day races, but was in his time in the shadow of Bernard Hinault. His biggest success was the victory in Paris-Nice 1976. 1978 he won Fleche Wallonne and the Critérium des As, 1980, the Critérium International and the 1982 Critérium du Dauphiné. 1978 and 1980 he decided the Tour du Vaucluse for themselves. In 1982, he won the Mediterranean cruise.

Nine times Laurent launched at the Tour de France, 1977, he was seventh in the overall standings. In the 1983 Tour Laurent won the 16th stage, having brought him down in the final sprint of the Dutchman Henk Lubberding. Lubberding was disqualified and declared the winner Laurent. At the Giro d' Italia in 1979, he finished fourth in the overall standings.

After the end of his active career Laurent among others was worked as sports director of cycling teams, most recently as an assistant to Roger Legeay the team Crédit Agricole.
