Michel Marc Bouchard

Michel Marc Bouchard ( born February 2, 1958 in Saint- Cœur -de -Marie ) is a Canadian playwright.

Bouchard studied drama at the University of Ottawa and worked as a dramaturge at various French-language theaters in Ontario. As an author, he made his debut with the play Les Porteurs d' eau, which was premiered in 1981 at the Théâtre du Nouvel - Ontario in Sudbury.

His most successful piece was Les Feluettes Award ( in English translation under the title Lilies ) from 1987, which is considered a major work of modern Canadian theater and Dora Mavor Moore with the Award and the Chalmers Award for Best Play in 1991. It was performed with great success at the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, in France, Italy, Holland, Mexico and Uruguay and filmed in 1998. Overall, Bouchard has published more than 20 plays.

From 1989 to 1991 he was artistic director of Trillium Theatre in Ottawa, after which he became vice-president of the Théâtre d' Aujourd'hui in Montreal.
