Michel Robert (equestrian)

Michel Robert (born 24 December 1948 in corbelin ) is a French show jumping.

Career

Michel Robert began four years riding, at that time on a sheep. With 5 years he got the chance to ride his father's horses, a country doctor. In his youth Robert rode only on a regional, then national level both Eventing, Dressage and Show Jumping. At age 18, after completing his education, he went to the stables of various international riders this time to learn here. In this phase he remained some years in Béligneux in the department of Ain ​​- in the stable of French eventers Jean Sarrazin. In 1971 he took part in the European Championship of Eventing at Burghley House. The following year, followed by participation in the Olympic Games in Munich, also in eventing.

As a result, Robert specializes in the discipline jumping. In 1982 he took part in the World Championships in Dublin as a show jumper with Ideal de la Haye. Here he was first under the French team, he won the bronze medal in the individual. To date, followed by a large number of participations in European and World Championships; so he won at the 1994 World Cup with Sissi de la Lande in The Hague silver in singles. This was a year ago already succeeded with the same horse at the European Championships in Gijon. Outstanding successes were also the individual and team victories at the Mediterranean Games in 1993 and 1997.

Several months after the sale of its Toppferdes Kellemoi de Pepita took Robert from April / May 2012, Beritt several horses for " Haras de Hus ", one of France's largest private studs. He succeeds Kevin Impounds.

He runs with his wife Dominique ( who also competes on the international show jumping tournaments) in Fretignier at Lyon a plant and as horsemen, active in training and in the horse trade. He has also published a number of works (books, films) about his work. Michel Robert has two children. In the fall of 2013 Michel Robert announced the end of his active sports career. He will indeed continue to ride, but to concentrate more courses and to act as author.
