Michel Ter-Pogossian

Michel " Michael" Ter - Pogossian (* 1925, † 19 June 1996 ) was an American physicist. He is considered, along with Michael E. Phelps as one of the fathers of positron emission tomography.

Ter - Pogossian was born in Berlin and is of Armenian descent. He emigrated via France, where he studied at the University of Paris, together with his parents to the United States, where he worked at the Washington University School of Medicine. In 1993 he received a Gairdner Foundation International Award. He was married, had three children and five grandchildren.
