Michela Fanini

Michela Fanini ( born March 23, 1973 in Lucca, † 16 October 1994 Capannori) was an Italian cyclist.

1992, aged 19 years, was Michela Fanini Italian champion in the road race; a year later second. In 1993 they occupied jointly with the Italian team took third place in the team time trial at the Road World Championships in Oslo.

1994 Michela Fanini won the Giro d'Italia Femminile and three stages in the Grande Boucle Féminine. In the autumn of the same year she died at the age of 21 in a training accident.

Her father Brunello Fanini organized to commemorate it every year the Giro della Toscana Femminile - Memorial Michela Fanini. There is also the Italian women's team " S. C. Michela Fanini ".
