Michelangelo Rampulla

Michelangelo Rampulla ( born August 19, 1962 in Patti (ME ), Sicily ) is an Italian former football goalkeeper.

He currently works as a goalkeeping coach at the Italian giants Juventus.

Career

As a player

Michelangelo Rampulla began his career with his hometown club, Pattese. He then played for Cesena, Varese and Cremonese.

On 23 February 1992 in a 1-1 draw against Atalanta, Rampulla went down in history. There he became the first goalkeeper in the history of Serie A to score a goal from open play. His team, the U.S. Cremonese, was 0-1 back, Rampulla ran into injury time to a corner with forward headed the corner kick from the right side from a short distance into the goal and secured his team a point, of the Lombard Club at the end of the season but could not save from relegation to Serie B.

In the summer of 1992 Michelangelo Rampulla moved to Juventus. In the following years he was behind the trunk of goalkeepers as Angelo Peruzzi, Edwin van der Sar or Gianluigi Buffon always number two and was often referred to as a "fan on the bench". During this time he was able to celebrate their successes with Juve at both national and international level.

In 2002, Michelangelo Rampulla ended his playing career.

As a coach

After his retirement in 2002 Rampulla worked until the summer of 2009 as goalkeeping coach and in charge of the gatekeepers of the youth department at Juventus. As his former teammate Ciro Ferrara Claudio Ranieri replaced in May 2009 as a coach for the elderly lady, who accepted him as a goalkeeper coach on in his coaching staff.
