Michele Dougherty

Karen Michele Dougherty (born 1962 or 1963) is a South African physicist.

Dougherty received her Ph.D. in physics in 1988 from the University of Natal, South Africa, then went a few years after Germany and worked in the field of applied mathematics. Since 1991 she has been Professor of Space Physics at Imperial College London. She worked on the project with the Ulysses spacecraft. She is also principal investigator for the magnetometer aboard the space probe Cassini -Huygens. In 2008 she was awarded for the innovative analysis of magnetic field data led to the discovery of the atmosphere around a moon of Saturn, the Hughes Medal.
