He made his debut in Serie A on 10 September 2006, scored in his first professional season six goals for Ascoli. In summer 2007, Udinese Calcio bought 50% of his transfer rights. In Udine, the striker has been but little used and eventually awarded to Atalanta. The season ended disappointingly for Paolucci - he met not once in eleven league games.

In July 2009, AC Siena bought from Juventus for 3.5 million euros 50 % of the transfer rights to Paolucci.
