Michelfeld Abbey

Michel Monastery Field is a former Benedictine monastery in the district of the town of Auerbach Michel box in the diocese of Bamberg.

History

The St. Michael and St. John the Evangelist consecrated monastery was founded in 1119 by Bishop Otto I of Bamberg; it was 1803 ( previously 1556-1661/1684 ) dissolved. The monastery was set on 13 March 1802 electoral administration. 1803 occurred in the secularisation of the final suspension. Last abbot of the monastery was Maximilian Prechtl. The beginning of the 18th century by the brothers Asam richly decorated baroque monastery church was the parish church.

Today in the spacious monastery housed an institution of rain Wagner Foundation.
