Anne Michelle Akers ( born February 1, 1966 in Santa Clara, California ) is a former American football player.

Biography

Career start

Akers initially played at the University of Central Florida football and was at the time four times in the All American team in 1988 and 1989 athlete of the year at the university and received the 1988 Hermann Trophy. She is the leading scorer at the University of Central Florida.

International success

Michelle Akers was since its inception in 1985 player of the national football team of ladies and shot there on 21 August 1985 against Denmark, the first official goal of the team.

Akers took part in three World Championships and was doing twice world champion. The women's football World Cup in 1991 was their most successful participation.
