Michigan City is a city on the shores of Lake Michigan in the U.S. state of Indiana in the United States, about 30 miles east of Chicago.

History
Michigan City 's history begins in 1830, when Isaac C. Elston bought the first land for the new settlement. 1836, this settlement became a town, with 1,500 inhabitants, a post office, a newspaper, a church and a business district.
