Mick Audsley ( * Summer 1949 in London ) is a British cutter.

Life

Michael ' Mick ' Audsley was born in the 3rd quarter of 1949. After studying at the London Hornsey College of Art and the Royal College of Art Audsley worked at the BFI Production Board. In the late 70s he was an assistant editor on films such as King Liar and My Way Home. Audsley was responsible for the cut since 1982 for several projects by Stephen Frears, including My Beautiful Laundrette, An ordinary hero, High Fidelity and most recently, Tamara Drewe. Also for Mike Newell, he cut several films, including Mona Lisa's smile, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

In summer 2007, Audsley was by director Terry Gilliam, for he cut already 12 Monkeys, offered to cut The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. He said to the project because Lesley Walker, who usually cut for Gilliam, was not available. This Audsley cut a film that was overshadowed during the filming of the tragic death of Heath Ledger. The film was about to crash and you might not know how to deal with the budget, the final scenes, the script and the insurance company. In the meantime, was such a paranoia spreads among the producers, directors and senior filmmakers that one hidden individual scenes before deciding how should continue to run the project. To bring the film to completion, this had to be invented from scratch aesthetically ( Aesthetically, we have had to reinvent the movie from the ground up).

At the British Independent Film Awards 2005 Audsley was on the jury.

Audsley describes himself old-fashioned cutter with Moviola background ( I'm an old -fashioned editor from a Moviola background ). Just because he is entrusted with the intensive processing of his films, he claims to need about 3 to 5 years, to see one of his movies again. And yet he can still dialogue scenes from his entire decades-long career by heart (It Usually takes me about three to five years. Quiet I can do bits of dialogue from all the films over 20 years).
