Mick Goodrick

Mick Goodrick ( born June 9, 1945 in Sharon, Pennsylvania) is an American jazz guitarist and teacher.

Goodrick started under the impression of Stan Kenton's play summer camps at the age of eleven years guitar and studied until 1967 at the Berklee College of Music, where he subsequently also taught. From 1973 to 1976 he worked with vibraphonist Gary Burton, with whom he recorded some shots.

Since then informed Goodrick at Berklee College and the New England Conservatory and occurs only sporadically as a musician. In 1985 he toured with Charlie Haden's Liberation Orchestra, and the late 1980s, he worked with Jack DeJohnettes Special Edition. In addition, he was also a sideman for Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Paul Motian, Dewey Redman, John Abercrombie, Dave Liebman, Joe Diorio, Steve Swallow, Mika Pohjola and others.

Goodrick released several albums as a bandleader. His book, The Advancing Guitarist is the standard work for guitarists. This book has a different approach than other guitar literature. Between 2001 and 2007, his three-part Mr. Good Chord 's Almanac of Guitar Voice - Leading for the Year 2001 and Beyond was published.
