Micki King

Micki King ( born July 26, 1944 in Pontiac, Michigan) is a former American Water Diving. She participated in two Olympic Games and even won a gold medal here.

Career

Micki King was a captain in the U.S. Air Force. She participated in the Summer Olympics in 1968 in Mexico City. She was lying in third place in the competition from the three- meter board when she hit at a half times the gainer to the board and broke his forearm. She jumped competition to an end, but dropped down to fourth place. Four years later, King participated in the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. There she played a spectacular competition from the three - meter board. It improved with the last three jumps from third to first place and thus won the gold medal ahead of Ulrika Knape and Marina Janicke. She received 56.25 points for the gainer with a half -fold screw the highest score in the competition. From diving they only reached fifth place in Munich.

King won eight titles of the Amateur Athletic Union. They also won two championships of the AAU with the water polo team from Ann Arbor. After the Olympic Games in Munich, Micki King resigned from active competition and coached at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
