The computer was originally built as a two -board unit. The basis was the " mainboard", the keyboard, the Zilog Z80 microprocessor, the Synertek 6545 CRT controller, 2K " screen " RAM, 2K character set ROM ( 128 characters) and 2K contained PCG (Programmable Character Graphics) RAM ( 128 characters). Each byte in RAM Screen addressed one character in the character set ROM or RAM in the PCG. A second board, called " core board ", contained the memory and later models were equipped with a floppy disk controller.
