Microcassette

A micro- cassette ( also Microcassette MC ) is a small version of the Compact Cassette (Audio Cassette ). It was developed by Olympus and first presented in 1969.

Through a slower tape speed of 2.4 cm / s and 1.2 cm / s compared to 4.75 cm / s at normal compact cassette recorders to poorer sound quality result. Because of their limited frequency range micro cassettes are therefore mainly used for recording voice, such as answering machines and dictation devices.

With the widespread Size MC60 capacity is 30 minutes per side at 2.4 cm / s, and there are the sizes MC15, MC30 and MC90.
