Micromanipulator

A micromanipulator (English micro manipulator or micro - Manipulating device) is a device for mechanical repairs of objects of very small dimensions (in the range of a few micrometers or less). It is for example used in microsurgery, in reproductive medicine for cell processing and for positioning the measuring electrode in the patch -clamp technique.

Under optical control (microscope ) is used, the micromanipulator for operations on tissues and cells of organisms. With very fine glass capillaries, needles, electrodes and other instruments extremely precise interventions can be made here.

The micromanipulator "translated " which, based on the object under investigation, much too coarse movements of the human hand in very fine movements of the instruments used, which are controlled mechanically, hydraulically or electronically. Typical micromanipulators allow movements in all three dimensions of space.
