Microprinting

The micro-printing is a printed or embossed font in a font size with height less than 0.3 mm height, which can be perceived as a rule only with a magnifying glass. It can only be manufactured with modern artwork and printing techniques and is primarily used as a security feature sensitive pressure works, but also in electrical engineering for marking small components. The purpose of the micro-printing as a security feature is that counterfeits or color copies are perceived by corresponding originals containing a micro-printing, only illegible or blurry.

Microscripts been used since the 1980s for securities, notes and documents. Furthermore, there are applications for stamps, coins (CHF, Romanian leu ) and personal documents ( German passport and identity card). With microscripts the plastic strip in passports are sometimes printed, for example, in French and Turkish passport in order to ensure further security against the falsification of documents.
