Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio

Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio ( Microsoft RDS, MRDS short ) is provided with a uniform interfaces, universal graphical environment for simulation and control of robots, as they are for example available from fischertechnik or Lego. Besides the known. NET programming, the programming can also be done on the basis of flow diagrams (data flow diagrams ). To this end, Microsoft created the Graphical Programming Microsoft Visual Programming Language ( VPL ), which is intended for beginners in programming, who already have a basic knowledge, eg to variables and program logic. This programming language is not limited to beginners alone, but is also interesting for advanced programmers, when it comes to rapidly develop prototypes or program code. Although the toolbox is adapted to the development of robot applications, but it is not limited thereto and can also be used for other applications.

The free for non-commercial purposes is based on software. NET and runs on Windows XP and higher. Starting with version 4, the Kinect SDK is supported.
