Middleton Railway

The Middleton Railway is the oldest continuously operated railway in the world. 1758 started operations and transported coal from the numerous open pits south of Leeds. Since 1960 she is a volunteer -run heritage railway that runs on weekends and holidays.

It was originally built as a 1245 -mm track, but later converted to standard gauge. It operates on a 1.6 km stretch south of the northern English city of Leeds between stations Moor Road and Park Maintenance and brings hikers to the recreation area Middleton Park.
