Middletown is a city in New Castle County in the U.S. state of Delaware, United States, with 18 871 inhabitants ( 2010). The geographic coordinates are: 39.45 ° North, 75.71 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 16.6 km ².

The city is located about 10 miles south of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal and west of Highway 13, right on the border with Maryland. The nearest major town is Dover ( Delaware), located about 50 miles south.

A landmark of the city is the private school founded by Scots " Saint Andrews " (named after the patron saint of Scotland, Andrew). A certain amount of fame the school 1988/89 as a rotational setting of the film " Dead Poets Society ".
