Midland County (Michigan)

Midland County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Midland.

Geography

The County is located east of the geographic center of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, is in the northeast about 35 miles from Lake Huron, one of the five Great Lakes, away and has an area of 1367 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Gladwin County, Bay County, Saginaw County, Gratiot County, Isabella County and Clare County.

History

Midland County was formed in 1831 from parts of Saginaw County and free territory. It was named for its location near the geographical center of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.
