Midnight Sun Film Festival

The Midnight Sun Film Festival (Finnish: Sodankylän elokuvajuhlat ) takes place in Sodankylä 120 km north instead of the Arctic Circle where the sun never sets during the summer. The films will be shown for three days around the clock, what, together with the midnight sun, for a unique atmosphere.

It was founded Film Festival 1986 by Aki and Mika Kaurismäki. It focuses on three areas: retrospectives known film directors, movies and silent films with live music. The festival has each 15,000 to 20,000 visitors, including 150 to 200 journalists.
