Mieres, Asturias

Mieres is a municipality in the autonomous community of Asturias, in northern Spain.

Location

Bounded on the north by Ribera de Arriba, Oviedo and Langreo, in the south of Lena and Aller in the west of Morcín and Riosa in the east of San Martín del Rey Aurelio and Laviana. Mieres is on the river Caudal.

History

Some, a few findings confirm a human settlement during the occupation by the Romans. The most important document of this period is the writing of a Corona Lucius Severus ( soldier ) of the Legio VII Gemina which is exhibited in the Archaeological Museum in Oviedo. 857 donated Ordoño I. King during a stay a church.
