Miesitz

Miesitz is a municipality in the administrative community Triptis in the Thuringian Saale- Orla-Kreis.

Geography

Miesitz and the district are located in Orlatal west of Federal Highway 9 and the city Triptis. By Orlatal lead the federal highway 281 and the railway line Gera -Saalfeld.

The municipality consists of the villages Miesitz Miesitz and Kopitzsch.

History

Miesitz goes back to a Sorbian settlement and was first mentioned in 1074 as Misaci and was in the 13th century, the family seat of the noble family of Metsch. The district Kopitzsch, 1394 was first mentioned as Copacz, was since 1529 the seat of the parish office of the then parish district Kopitzsch - Miesitz - Traun - Lemnitz.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 17 October 1994 by the Thuringian State Office of Administration.

Blazon: "With a silver slant left wave beams divided by red and green, above a slight left lying silver oak leaf, down a slight left ligende silver bell. "

The oak leaf symbolizes the giant oak of Miesitz with height of 32 meters and a crown diameter of about 25 meters, which was thus the largest tree of the former county Pössneck. The bell symbolizes the 1739/40 on behalf of the former manor owner of Miesitz, the Count of stone, fundamentally restored church. The oblique wave bar represents the river Orla.

Trade

In the town there are an automotive repair shop, car paint shop, a horse ranch ( " Main Ranch " ) and a hotel ( " Hotel Wutzler ") and a go-kart track ( " CartCenterMiesitz ").
