Mieza

Mieza ( altgr. Μίεζα ) was an ancient Macedonian city. She lay in the landscape Emathia between cities Beroia and Edessa, probably near the present village of Naoussa. The exact location is unknown.

The city is known for its Nymphaeum and that Aristotle here of 343/342 bis 340/339 Alexander taught the Great. Peucestas, trierarch Alexander, came from the city. Since the 3rd century the city had an urban character and was involved in the interaction of the cities on this level. Thus, the receipt of a hard legations ( theoroi ) from Delphi in Mieza is known.
