Mighty Joe Young (musician)

Mighty Joe Young ( born September 23, 1927 in Shreveport, Louisiana, † 25 March 1999 in Chicago, Illinois) was an American blues guitarist, singer and songwriter.

Young, born in Louisiana, grew up in Milwaukee. From the mid- 1950s he played in Chicago, inter alia, in " Little Joe & his Heartbreakers ", Billy Boy Arnold, Jimmy Rogers and Otis Rush.

In 1961 his first solo recording Why baby. More singles during the 1960s were, inter alia, I Want a Love, Voo Doo Dust, Sweet Kisses, Henpecked and Guitar Star. Young's debut album as a soloist, Blues With a Touch of Soul, was released in 1971.

In the late 1980s Young was operating a pinched nerve in the neck area. Complications affected his ability to play guitar. Nevertheless, he published in 1997, the album Mighty Man, where he had worked over the years as part of his therapy.

Mighty Joe Young died in 1999 in Chicago.
