Mignano Monte Lungo

Mignano Monte Lungo is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3252 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Caserta in Campania. It is part of the Comunità Montana Monte Santa Croce. The community is located about 47.5 kilometers northwest of Caserta. Mignano Monte Lungo is immediately adjacent to the provinces of Frosinone ( Lazio ) and Isernia ( Molise ).

History

Originally a settlement area of the city Sidiciner here Cesennia was built, which was conquered 305 BC by the Romans. As of the end of the 8th century, the Lombards to take control of Mignano. 1139 is here terminated after a battle of Pope Innocent II to Roger II of Sicily the ending for almost ten years of war in the region, who took the coronation Roger II by the anti-pope Antiochus its beginning.
