José Miguel Torres Cabrera ( born April 18, 1983 in Maracay, Aragua, Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan baseball player in Major League Baseball.

Miguel Cabrera came out of the farm system of the Florida Marlins, who committed him on 2 July 1999 as a free agent, and played at the beginning of the 2003 season still at the Double-A Carolina Mudcats. In June 2003 he was appointed by then second youngest player the Marlins after Edgar Rentería in the squad Major League, winning in his debut year, the World Series. He was elected from 2004 to 2007 only four times in the All- Star team. Defensively, he played at various positions, Left Field, Right Field, Third Base and most recently with his current team, the Detroit Tigers, as a first baseman. His offensive statistics at the age of 25 years can be compared with those of Jr. Hank Aaron and Ken Griffey.

Florida Marlins 2003-2007

In his first game for the Marlins Cabrera scored a walk-off home run. It was only the third time since 1900 that a player managed to win on his debut the home run. Florida manager Jack McKeon sat in the same as the cleanup batter in fourth place in the line-up and Cabrera played one of the best seasons of a novice at all. His performance in the play-offs contributed significantly to winning the World Series in 2003. In game four against the New York Yankees Roger Clemens hit him with an inside fastball, two pitches after Cabrera hit a home run over the right field. His first season ended Cabrera with a batting average of .268, 12 home runs, 62 RBI and 39 runs. In the next season he joined seamlessly to his performance last year and played by .294 with 33 homers, 112 RBI and 101 runs for the first time at the All -Star Game. Defensively, Cabrera was used to positions in the outfield. In a strong line-up with Luis Castillo, Jeff Conine, Carlos Delgado, Alex Gonzalez and Mike Lowell he stood with .323, 33 homers and 116 RBI again out and he became the youngest player in the MLB, the two seasons in succession more than 30 homers reach. Again, Cabrera was represented at the All -Star team, and he also won a Silver Slugger Award. In the 2006 season, Cabrera was one of the key players in the Marlins after this many well-known players released before the season and young talents were included in the squad. Thanks to the impact force of the New Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla with before, and Josh Willingham after him in the line-up, he scored a batting average of .339, hit 26 home runs and 114 RBI. Again he played in the All-Stars and was awarded a Silver Slugger. The Glory of the best batters remained deprived him though, here was Freddy Sanchez of the Pittsburgh Pirates with a .344 front. 2006 was the first year in which Cabrera did not play in the outfield, but third base after the former was changed regular third baseman, Mike Lowell, Josh Beckett together with, among others, against Ramírez Sánchez Aníbal to the Boston Red Sox. It is worth mentioning one at-bat of Cabrera, in which he was to be brought on purpose with a Walk on base to escape his dreaded impact force, but Cabrera hit the thrown ball past the side of a hit and brought a decisive lead. His move on the defensive on the Hot Corner brought Cabrera criticism, since he showed some uncertainty and more game-deciding errors committed, including the All- Star Game and also in a game the Marlins, which is then a confrontation between the Marlins pitcher Scott Olsen, who accused him of a lack of commitment, and Cabrera came.

Due to his achievements Cabrera got a highly doped one-year contract under the Arbitration hearing, a kind of neutral arbitration commission in faltering negotiations. In the course of the 2007 season Cabrera was twice elected Player of the Week, for the fourth consecutive year in the All- Star team in the National League. During the season, he succeeded his RBI number 500, according to Mel Ott and Ted Williams as drittjüngstem players. Shortly before the first Grand Slam of his career on September 15, 2007 against the Colorado Rockies he also managed with the 100th RBI of the season as the only player next to David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez, Albert Pujols and Vladimir Guerrero, this limit in the first four seasons of his. His most impressive statistics for 2007 are the batting average of .320, 34 home runs, 119 RBI and a .401 on- base percentage.

Detroit Tigers from 2008 to today

Miguel Cabrera was released because of financial constraints on the Florida Marlins in December 2007 along with pitcher Dontrelle Willis against the young player Andrew Miller, Dallas Trahern, Eulogio De La Cruz, Burke Badenhop Cameron Maybin and Mike Rabelo to the Detroit Tigers. In Detroit, he received the fourth-highest contract doped at the MLB history. His debut for the Tigers were as third baseman Cabrera on March 31, 2008. Though he hit a home run for Detroit already in his third at-bat, he had difficulty adjusting to the new environment. He committed more errors than usual and was then used as a first baseman. This was one reason that he was first not invited to join the All- Star team. After the All- Star Game Cabrera was back to its former strength and was appointed in July after eight homers and .330 batting average Player of the Month. He finished the season with new personal records for home runs (37) and RBI (127 ) and thus became the second youngest home run champion of the American League to Troy Glaus.

2012 Cabrera could win the Triple Crown. Here applies the highest batting average (AVG ), most home runs and most RBI. The last person to have managed this was Carl Yastrzemski of the Boston Red Sox in 1967. Thus the longest losing streak ended in this classification, which has been conducted since 1920. In last season's game, but he was replaced prematurely, having already 2x at bat was ( Fly -Out, Strike -Out ) and his AVG average plummeted to 33%. This season, he could just as most bases ( 377 ), extra base hits (84 ), go-ahead RBI (34) Grounding Into Double Plays ( 28) and multiple hit games (64 ) win. He divides the latter category, together with Derek Jeter. However, his AVG was just the best in the AL, so that he missed the Major League Triple Crown. He was also involved in 139 of 726 runs ( 19.15% ). This is the highest percentage of an individual player since 1920 ( introduced as RBI). 1970 Johnny Bench was involved for the Cincinnati Reds to 148 of 775 runs ( 19.1 %).
