Miguel Littín

Miguel Ernesto Littin Cucumides ( born August 9, 1942 in Palmilla, Chile ) is a Chilean film director, film producer and writer of Palestinian descent.

Life

The filmmaker Miguel Littin began his career in 1965 with his first film Por la tierra ajena. The first really became known film was released in 1969 and was called El Chacal de Nahueltoro (English: Jackal of Nahueltoro ).

1971 turns Littin the film The Promised Land (Spanish: La Tierra Prometida ): A film about unemployed peasants in 1930 who are in search of the promised land. It is prohibited in 1973 by the military dictatorship. As a supporter of President Salvador Allende Miguel Littin goes after the 1973 military coup by Augusto Pinochet into exile in Mexico. In exile Littin then rotates many films dealing with the dictatorship in Chile.

In addition to his film-making Miguel Littin is also active as a writer and so far has written two novels. Here plays his role model, the Chilean writer Francisco Coloane, and whose love for Tierra del Fuego a major role. In the film, Tierra del Fuego in 2000 it comes to the fate of prospectors in Tierra del Fuego.

The film Acta General de Chile

In 1985 he started his probably best known and most spectacular film project, Acta General de Chile. His plan was to make a documentary in the middle of Chile, although the country was heavily monitored by the secret police. Littin planned this risky business with military precision. The film was disguised as an advertising film and Littin its appearance changed greatly. He assumed the identity of a Uruguayan.
