Miguel Molina

Miguel Molina González ( born February 17, 1989 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish racing driver. He joined from 2006 to 2009 in the Formula Renault 3.5 at. It starts in the DTM since 2010.

Career

Molina began his motorsport career in karting in 1999, which he held until 2005. In parallel, he was 2004 years his debut in Formula racing and finished sixth overall in the Spanish Formula Renault Junior. 2005 moved Molina in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, finishing in 28th place overall. In 2006 he went to the Spanish Formula 3 Championship at the start and reached with a win in sixth place in the standings. He also was the year of his debut in Formula Renault 3.5, in which he took part in six races. 2007 Molina played his first full season in the championship and to decide for himself, he managed two races. With two other podium finishes, he finished the season in seventh place overall.

2008 Molina stayed in Formula Renault 3.5. He made another two race wins and improved in the standings to fourth place. 2009 Molina went again in the Formula Renault 3.5 at the start. In its fourth season, however, he did not win a race and deteriorated to the eighth place overall. In addition, Molina had to skip the last four races, as his team - Ultimate Motorsport - was prematurely dropped out of Formula Renault 3.5.

In the 2010 season he joined for Abt Sportsline in a one -year-older Audi A4 DTM in the DTM. With an eighth place in his debut race at Hockenheim, he immediately took his first point. In his first season he scored a total of five race points and a fourth place was his best result. In addition, he once drove the fastest lap. At the end of the season, he finished tenth in the drivers' standings. 2011 graduated Molina for Abt Sportsline his second DTM season. At the eighth round at Oschersleben, he scored his first DTM pole position and the race in eighth finally his first point of the season. After he again started from pole position in the season finale, followed with a third place his first podium placement. He finished the season off on the eleventh place overall.

2012 Molina joined together with Mike Rockenfeller of Abbot to Phoenix Racing, where he received an Audi A5 DTM. While Rockenfeller was fourth with 85 points as the best Audi driver Molina finished the season with 8 points on the 18th place in the drivers' standings. 2013 remained Molina at Phoenix in the DTM. At the end of the season, he finished 17th overall.
