Miha Verlič

Miha Verlic ( born August 21, 1991 Maribor) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who is under contract with HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in the Erste Bank Hockey League since September 2011. His father Andrej is active as an official in the sport of ice hockey, his brother Jure is ice hockey goaltender.

Career

Miha Verlic learned the Hockey game in his home town of Maribor. There he went through the youth ranks of HDK Maribor and was from 2005 for the U20 team in action.

After playing grown in the ( semi-) professional team of the club from 2007 onwards, he decided in 2009 to the Czech Republic for a change. There he was active for the HC Slezan Opava, both in the U20 Extraliga, as well as in third-rate second league.

As a professional player in the HDD Olimpija Ljubljana

In 2011 he returned with a sample contract of HDD Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia, which was initially extended in September 2011 until end of season. In order to obtain first match practice he was loaned to his hometown club, who took part at this time on the Slohokej league then for some games.

During the season 2011/12 he acquired a permanent place in the HDD Olimpija and won with this 2012, the Slovenian championship, after the club had participated in each of the regular season game on the operation of the Erste Bank Hockey League. Also the jump in this professional league mastered Verlic with success - there were in the 2011/12 season still six points scorer, he scored in the following game time already 16 points. After the main round of the 2013/14 season he was one of 37 scorer points of the most successful players of the capital club, which earned him a nomination for the Olympic squad of Slovenian men's national team for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, although he previously not a major tournament for the Men team had played.

Internationally

Miha Verlic belonged in the mid- 2000s to the cadres of the Slovenian junior national teams. In 2008 he took part with the U18 selection of the country at the Under-18 Junior World Championship Division I, where his team relegated, as final Placed in Division II. A year later, at the U18 tournament of the Division II, which was held in Verlic ' hometown of Maribor, he finished with the U18 selection of his home country in second place and thus missed the direct resurgence.

Further deployments at youth level he had at the U20 World Championships Division I 2010 and 2011.
