Mihaela Melinte

Mihaela Melinte ( born March 27, 1975 in Bacău ) is a Romanian hammer thrower. Her biggest success is the World Champion title at the World Athletics Championships in 1999 in Seville.

Melintes international career began in 1997 when she reached the second place in the Eurocup, the same year she won at the U23 European Championships and Universiade the first place. The following year she was in Budapest Senior European Champion. 1999 was successful year to date her, she became world champion in Seville, also improved the Melinte Hammer Throw World Record three times, she had surpassed the record in previous years, twice already.
