Mika Noronen

Mika Noronen ( born June 17, 1979 in Tampere ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender who is under contract with the Red Bull EHC München of the German Ice Hockey League since January 2014.

Career

His career began in the Finn at Tappara, the SM- liiga team Tampere. NHL Entry Draft 1997, he was pulled from the Buffalo Sabres. From 1999 he played with the Rochester Americans, the AHL farm team of the Buffalo Sabres and the Florida Panthers. In the 2000/2001 season Mika Noronen was first used in an NHL game. In the two years the Finn played twice for the Sabres and he won both games. Due to its good statistics of the goalie was called more often in the starting squad and Buffalo in the season 2003/2004 he came 35 times used. Mika Noronen was the eighth goalie in the history of the NHL, who managed to score a goal. He achieved this in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on February 14, 2004.

2006 Mika was traded to the Vancouver Canucks, for whom he played his first game on March 14. Before the season 2006/ 07 undertook the Canucks Roberto Luongo and furnished him with a multi -year contract. Since Mika would not only act as back-up again, he signed a contract with the Russian Super league club Ak Bars Kazan. With Kazan he won the 2007 European Champions Cup, but was displaced in the course of the season 2007 / 08 by Robert Esche. Therefore he moved in July 2008 to the Russian KHL club Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.

For torpedo, he completed 14 games in the KHL, before moving to Linköpings HC in the Elitserien in January 2009. With the LHC, it reached the playoffs before he was taken in September 2009 by JYP Jyvaskyla of the SM- liiga under contract. This club he stood in three games of the season 2009/10 on the ice before he moved to Helsingfors IFK in December 2009. By HIFK Noronen reached the playoffs, where he completed six games. After the 2009/10 season Noronen was initially unemployed and got only in November 2010, a new contract with Rauman Lukko.

Internationally

For Finland took Noronen at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1996 and 1997, the U20 Junior World Championships in 1997, 1998 and 1999, and the World Championship in 2004 in part.
