Mikael Andersson (ice hockey, born 1959)

Mikael Andersson ( born July 6, 1959 in Kiruna ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who was active in his playing days from 1979 to 1994 among others for MODO Hockey, Västra Frölunda IF Björklöven and in the Elitserien.

Career

Mikael Andersson began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of the Kiruna AIF. He then moved to MODO Hockey, for the first team, he was from 1979 to 1983 in the Elitserien, the highest Swedish league, active. Then he was bound by its domestic rivals IF Björklöven, with whom he was Swedish Champion in 1987. A year later he was with his new team also runner-up. In the summer of 1988, the attacker has signed a contract with Västra Frölunda in the then still second-class Division 1 with the team he managed Earned promotion in the Elitserien. In this he was team captain from 1990 to 1992 in Frölunda. Last played the links Sagittarius from 1992 to 1994 for his former club IF Björklöven with which he rose in the 1992/93 season from Division 1 in the Elitserien.

Internationally

For Sweden, Andersson took at junior level at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1977 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 1978 and 1979 in part. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the 1987 World Championships, the Canada Cup in the same year and at the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary in 1988.
