Mikael Backlund
Mikael Backlund ( born March 17, 1989 in Västerås) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player standing since 2009 with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League contract.
Career
Mikael Backlund began his career as a hockey player in the youth of VIK Västerås HK, for the first team, he was from 2005 to 2009 in the HockeyAllsvenskan, the second Swedish league, active. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2007 in the first round than a total of 24 players from the Calgary Flames, where he made his debut in the National Hockey League on January 8, 2009 game against the New York Islanders. The rest of the season 2008/ 09 spent the Swede, however, with the Kelowna Rockets in the Canadian top junior Western Hockey League. In the 2009/10 season he played primarily with the Abbotsford Heat in the American Hockey League and was there in 67 games for use where Backlund scored 41 points. In the same season he scored his first goal for the Calgary Flames in the NHL. The 2010/11 season he started in farm team in Abbotsford Heat, but after only one game, he was appointed again in the NHL squad of Flames.
Internationally
For Sweden, Backlund took part in the U18 World Junior Championships in 2006 and 2007, as well as the U20 World Junior Championships in 2008 and 2009 in part.
