Mikasuki language

The Hitchiti - Mikasuki language belongs to the eastern sub-group of the large Muskogean language family.

Today, approximately 500 people speak in South Florida Mikasuki.

Originally derived from the Mikasuki Northwest Florida and the border of North and South Carolina. Hitchiti is to Mikasuki very closely related language of Hitchiti, which is now extinct. Due to their close relationship, they are linguistically regarded as a language.
