Mike Comrie

Michael " Mike" William Comrie ( born September 11, 1980 in Edmonton, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player. Between 2000 and 2011 he played in the National Hockey League for the Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, Phoenix Coyotes, Ottawa Senators, New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins on the position of the center. His brother Paul also played in the National Hockey League.

Career

The 1.78 m wide center began his career in various amateur leagues, during his studies he played for the team from the University of Michigan in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association, a league game in the operation of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. NHL Entry Draft 1999 Links shooter was eventually selected to 91st place in the third round by the Edmonton Oilers.

In the 2000 /01 season Comrie completed his first NHL inserts for the Oilers, after two seasons later, he asked to be transferred to another team, so he eventually moved to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Jeff Woywitka and two draft picks. For Philadelphia Mike Comrie was 21 times on the ice and was finally during the 2003 /04 for Sean Burke, Branko Radivojevic and the rights to Ben Eager transferred to the Phoenix Coyotes.

During the NHL lockout in 2004 /05, the Canadians played for the Swedish first division Färjestad BK, then he was still a member of the squad of the Coyotes. In August 2006 the franchise in Phoenix extended the contract with Comrie for another year, once he reached in Phoenix, a 30 -goal season, but was transferred to the Ottawa Senators on 3 January 2007 in exchange for Alexei Kaigorodow. With the Senators, the striker reached the finals for the Stanley Cup, there the team lost but in five games against the Anaheim Ducks.

On 5 July 2007, Mike Comrie signed a one-year contract worth 3.375 million dollars as a free agent with the New York Islanders. In 2009, Comrie moving to the Ottawa Senators, where he played only a brief season, and then went back to his club Draft, the Edmonton Oilers.

In September 2010, Comrie agreed on a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

On 13 February 2012, he said after the third hip surgery in five years his resignation.

Since early 2007, Comrie is in a relationship with actress Hilary Duff. On 14 August 2010, the two married in Santa Barbara, California. Their son Luca was born on 20 March 2012. In January 2014, they announced their separation.
