Mike Costin

Michael " Mike" Charles Costin (* 1929 in London ) is an engine builder.

He attended the Salvatorian College in Wealdstone ( in the London Borough of Harrow). In 1950 he was aircraft engineer at de Havilland Aircraft Company. Three years later he worked there during the day as a draftsman and at night as a developer for Lotus Engineering. In 1956 he became technical director at Lotus. From the following year worked there Keith Duckworth, with which he founded in Shaftesbury Mews London W8 Cosworth 1958. He worked again during the day and at night with Lotus Cosworth. The next year they moved to 43 Friern Barnet Road, Friern Barnet, London, and began their first project MT 1, a modified Ford Anglia 105E engine.

Mike Costin is the younger brother of Frank Costin, known aerodynamics and race car designer for Lotus, Lister, Maserati, Marcos.
