Mike Hopkins (sound editor)

Michael Alexander Hopkins ( born August 12, 1959 in Wellington, † 30 December 2012 the Waiohine River in New Zealand) was a New Zealand film sound editor.

Life

Hopkins first major work - after beginning the sound editor - as sound engineer was for Peter Jackson's Braindead 1992 for twenty years he was the director professionally connected. . He was twice an Oscar for best sound editing awards ( 2002: The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, 2005: King Kong) and was nominated for another Oscar (2007: Transformers ), in each case together with the Americans Ethan Van der Ryn. Hopkins also participated at the movies Blade Runner, Superman II and Octopussy.

Private

Hopkins was married and lived with his wife on a farm in Greytown, Wellington.

Death

On December 30, 2012 Hopkins drowned after an accident with a rafting boat on the Waiohine River in the Tararua Ranges, New Zealand.
