Mike Keneally

Michael Joseph Keneally ( born December 20, 1961 in Long Iceland, New York ) is an American musician.

Life

Keneally was born in Long Iceland and moved at a young age to San Diego in California. There he is connected to the local music scene, he has founded the band " Drop Control " 1985. Mike Keneally is best known for his involvement in Zappa's 1988's touring band. Keneally was included because he had a wide repertoire of Zappa pieces that he could play both the guitar and the keyboard. The interaction with the band was short- lived, as the concert tour in 1988 ended prematurely. After Zappa's death in 1993, Keneally worked with Zappa's eldest son Dweezil and played with the group Z. recorded several albums. Keneally has released more than ten albums of his own and played since 1992 in various bands and projects.

In the project "The Mistakes " played Keneally 1995 with Henry Kaiser (guitar ), Andy West ( bass) and Prairie Prince (drums). From 1996 to 2001, he headed up to the eight-member group " Mike Keneally & Beer For Dolphins ". He formed in early 2002 his group to a quartet around and called it " Mike Keneally Band". Both ensembles were suffering from frequent personnel reshuffles, especially the drummer (Jason Harrison Smith, Nick D' Virgilio, Toss Panos, Joe Travers) changed very often. Constants in Keneally band are bassist Bryan Beller (since 1994) and guitarist Rick Musallam ( since 1999). In Europe, Mike Keneally toured in the years 2002 to 2005 under the name " Mike Keneally and Friends" with Jaan Wessman (bass) and Schroeder (drums).

These is his involvement in Steve Vai's touring. Keneally played guitar and keyboards in the Miles Davis Tribute project YO MILES! by Wadada Leo Smith and Henry Kaiser. On the Zappanale in Bad Doberan is a musician also occurred.
