Mike Tully

Mike Tully (actually Michael Scott Tully, born October 21, 1956 in Long Beach, California ) is a retired American pole vaulter.

At the Athletics World Cup he won in 1977 in Dusseldorf and 1979 in Montreal. After him in Helsinki a valid attempt had succeeded at the World Athletics Championships in 1983, he won shortly thereafter at the Pan American Games in Caracas.

In 1984 he won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, and in 1987 he managed to defend the title at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis. Participation in the 1988 Olympic Games he missed, because he drew upon an Achilles tendon rupture with the U.S. elimination fights.

1977, 1979 and 1986, he was national champion. As a student of the University of California, Los Angeles, he was in 1978, both in the halls and outdoor NCAA champion. In 1984 he exhibited at three U.S. records.
