Mikhail Mikhailovich Postnikov (Russian: Михаил Михайлович Постников, English transcription Mikhail Mikhailovich Postnikov, born October 27, 1927 in Schatura in Moscow, † May 27, 2004 in Moscow) was a Russian mathematician who worked on topology.
Postnikov was a specialist in algebraic topology and differential topology. He received his Ph.D. in Lev Pontryagin at the Moscow State University, where he was also a professor. In the 1990s he was at the University of Oklahoma.
He led a 1951 Postnikov systems for path-connected spaces, which are topological spaces and whose homology groups can be constructed from their homotopy groups.
His PhD is one of Sergei Petrovich Novikov.
As Fomenko he deals with chronology criticism.
