Mikhail Stefanovich

Mikhail Iharawitsch Stefanowitsch (White Russian Міхаіл Ігаравіч Стэфановіч, Russian Михаил Игоревич Стефанович / Mikhail Igorewitsch Stefanowitsch; born November 27, 1989 in Minsk, Byelorussian SSR) is a Belarusian professional ice hockey player who is on loan to the HK Gomel from the Belarusian Extraliga since 2011. His transfer rights held until June 2011, the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League.

Career

Mikhail Stefanovich began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of the HK Dinamo Minsk in which he was active until 2004. Then, the attacker moved to HK Gomel, for its professional team, he made his debut in the Belarusian Extraliga in the season 2006/ 07. He also won this season with his team to the national cup competition. After the right-handed shooter began the following season in Homel, he left the club after just one use and the Quebec Remparts joined from the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL, where he played until 2010. In June 2009, he received an entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, but remained in the squad of the Remparts. At the beginning of the 2009/10 season, he completed some games for the Reading Royals of the ECHL and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League before loaned him the Maple Leafs in November at the HK Dinamo Minsk.

In January his NHL - transfer rights were transferred to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Fabian Brunnström.

Internationally

For Belarus Stefanowitsch took at junior level at the U18 Junior World Championship Division I in 2007, and the Under-18 Junior World Cup in 2006 in part. In addition, he was in the squad of his country at the U20 World Junior Championships Division I in 2008 and 2009, and at the U20 World Youth Championship in 2007. In the senior level, he ran for Belarus on at the A World Championships in 2009 and 2010.
