Mikhail Vasiliev

Mikhail Alexandrovich Vasiliev (Russian: Михаил Александрович Васильев ;) ( born June 8, 1962 in Elektrogorsk, Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player, who has been working end of his career as a coach.

Career

As a player

Vasilyev played during his time in the Soviet League for CSKA Moscow and Torpedo Yaroslavl and was 1981-1988 a total of eight times Soviet Champion.

Between 1992 and 2001 he played in Italy for the AS Varese, the EV Bozen 84 and the HC Bolzano, where he could be Italian master. Later, he also worked as a coach at HC Bolzano.

Internationally

He won the Soviet national ice hockey team, the Olympic ice hockey tournament in Sarajevo in 1984 and 1983 the world title.

As a coach

Since his career end of 2001, Mikhail Vasilyev works as a hockey coach. Here, he worked on the SG Pontebba and the HC Bolzano as head coach. In 2009, he became head coach of the Russian U18 national team and oversaw parallel the U20 national team of Russia as an assistant coach. With the U18 selection, he finished fourth in the U18 Junior World Cup in 2010. Between 2011 and 2012 he was head coach of the Belarus U17 and U18 national teams as well as the second-division team of RZOP Raubitschy. With the U18 national team of Belarus, he participated in the Division IB of the U18 World Junior Championships in 2011 and reached the fourth place.
