Mikhail Voronin

Mikhail Yakovlevich Voronin (Russian: Михаил Яковлевич Воронин, scientific transliteration Mikhail Voronin Jakovlevic; born March 26, 1945 in Moscow, † May 22, 2004 ) was a Soviet artistic gymnast. He was considered one of the best gymnasts in the 1960s.

Voronin in 1966 around World Champion and 1967 and 1968 all-around European Champion. At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, he was second in the all around and Olympic champion on the horizontal bar and the jump. According to him named as Woronin rim is the giant wheel with straight arms on the rings.

Voronin died in 2004 at the age of 59 years from the effects of cancer. Voronin was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2010.
