Miklós Istvánffy

Miklós Istvánffy (* 1538 in Kisasszonyfalva, † 1615) was a Hungarian historian.

Istvánffy studied in Bologna and acted, returned from there, from 1562 to 1568 as secretary to the Primate Miklós Oláh.

After his death, he was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Emperor Maximilian II to the Secretary at the Hungarian Court Chancellery in Vienna and 1575. He also possessed the confidence of the Emperor Rudolf II, who appointed him to the Palatine Deputy.

Furthermore him several important political broadcasts were entrusted. In the literature Istvánffy has immortalized his name by the work Historiarum de rebus hungaricis libri 34, issued by Cardinal Péter Pázmány 1622 in Cologne, was then repeatedly launched in 1870 and was published in Hungarian translation.
