Miklós Maros

Miklós Maros ( born November 14, 1943 in Pécs ) is a Hungarian composer.

The son of Rudolf Maros studied at the Conservatory of Budapest in Rezsö Sugár and at the Music Academy with Ferenc Szabó. In 1968 he moved to Stockholm, where he studied with Ingvar Lidholm to 1972. Another important teachers was György Ligeti.

From 1971 to 1978 he worked at the studio for modern music and taught from 1976 to 1980 at the College of Music in Stockholm. 1980-81 he was a guest of the Berlin Artists Programme of the German Academic Exchange Service in West Berlin. With his wife, the singer Ilona Maros, it forms since 1972, the Maros ensemble, the performance of contemporary music dedicated to.

In addition to two operas ( Stora Grusharpan - The large gravel Harp, 1982 and Kastrater - castrati, 2002), he composed many works for various chamber music ensembles, symphonic works, concertos and vocal works.
