MIL-STD-810

The MIL -STD -810 is an American military technical standard, specifies the environmental test conditions for military equipment. This implies also the subtitle of the norm, Environmental Engineering Considerations and Laboratory Tests.

The current latest version of this standard is MIL -STD- 810G from October 2008.

Area of influence

The standard defines tests for compatibility of equipment and devices with extreme temperatures and air pressures, sunlight, moisture, chemicals, vibration and acceleration forces, such as at high altitudes and in connection with the use of firearms.

Limitations

The standard itself does not dictate manufacturers of equipment that defined in their tests are actually carried out and that the test object, this must also exist. This is not controlled in the norm, but in the contractual provisions between manufacturers / suppliers and buyers.

The reference to the standard or testing in accordance with the standard manufacturer's specifications or advertising so does not imply that the object in question has been tested to all parts of the standard and these tests have passed. This is especially true when manufacturers advertise with civilian equipment tests according to this standard. What tests were actually performed and passed, is up to the manufacturer and to learn under certain circumstances only with additional effort
